Every 4th of February the world commemorates World Cancer Day. The theme for 2022 World Cancer Day is ‘Close the Care Gap’. To mark this date, the Rivers State Ministry of Health in partnership with MWAN Rivers and the Clinton Health Access Initiative organised a public webinar on Saturday, Feb 5, 2022.
The program raised awareness about available cancer prevention, screening and treatment services available in the state. Discussions also held to craft solutions to inequalities driving the cancer care gap in order to change the dynamics of cancer care from passive to active.
120 persons participated in the meeting that attracted NGP, CBOs, government agencies and experts working in the cancer care space. Other participants included the media, religious bodies, professional associations and women’s groups.
