National President-Elect MWAN, Prof Rosemary Ogu and immediate Past President MWAN Rivers State, Dr Vetty Agala were present at the opening ceremony of the Nigeria Medical Students Association (NIMSA) Games that took place at Uniport Sport Complex on 01/11/2021. Also in attendance were Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof Angela Frank-Briggs, Former Governor, Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, represented by the Registrar, Pamo University of Medical Sciences, the Uniport Vice-Chancellor represented by the DVC Academic, Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Rivers State.

Dr Bernadette Korubo and Prof Bell-Gram were the media personalities of the week. They provided health awareness on Menopause at Radio Rivers FM on Thursday 4th November, 2021. The emphasis was on Bone Health, in addition to other symptoms that affect women in menopause. The session was so educative that there have been calls from women listeners to have a second session of discussion.

MWAN Rivers was represented at the state Gender-Based Violence meeting at the Ministry of Health by President-ELect MWAN Rivers, Dr Cecilia Nwibubasa, immediate Past President, Dr Vetty Agala, Chairman, Violence Against Women and Girls Response Committee, Dr Adetomi Bademosi, and Secretary, Dr Chimele Adeyemo.

MWAN Rivers presented a monthly report to Shell Petroleum Development Company on the SPDC-supported Breast and Cervical Cancer Focused Care.

The report states so far that more than 500 women were reached with cancer information; 400 fliers on breast and cervical cancer distributed. Screening was done for 48 women (breast) and 42(cervical). Three enrolled clients on treatment and follow up are doing satisfactorily well and one client recieved a grant as support for chemotherapy which commenced Wednesday 28th October, 2021.
