MEDIA ENGAGEMENTS

MWAN Rivers State general meeting for the month of November 2021 held on the 20th of November 2021. It was a virtual meeting that had 83 participants from within and outside Nigeria. The State President, Dr Omosivie Maduka, briefed members about the organisation’s focus for the biennium, and a report of the 2021 MWAN week was presented. Other activities aimed at improving members holistically took place. A Pep-Talk on Effective Power Point Presentation was facilitated by Dr. Folusho Alamina. There were also two Fit and Fab sessions by Dr Lisa Ekelaka and Dr Chinedu Nwadiaru that provided Fashion and Make-Up tips. It was an enriching and impactful time.

Dr. Adaeze Anidi-Ugwu was the Media Personality of the week. She provided health awareness on Diabetes as part of activities to mark World Diabetes Day 2021 with the theme; Access to Diabetes Care: If Not Now, When?


MWAN Rivers partnered with Diplomats’ Assembly on Saturday 20th November 2021 to provide medical care to the male members of the church, the Kingsmen.

This was facilitated by the Outreach Committee led by the President-elect, Dr Cecelia Nwibubasa.

The Kingsmen received a health talk with emphasis on tips to achieving a healthy lifestyle.
Blood pressure, Blood Sugar checks were carried out, as well as assessments of Body Mass Indices of members.
Also, those who required counselling were attended to.

MWAN Rivers has secured funding from PIND to to carry out 16 days of Activism against Violence Against Persons. This grant will focus on interventions to prevent and control violence against women and girls in tertiary institutions in the state.
